Bahini. He started this on March 21, 1999 as a children organization as Tarashankar Sob Peyechir Asor. Dr. Mukherjee, a distinguished personality in Bengali Folk Culture and Drama, was born in 1978 in Labpur (West Bengal). His father, Bankim Chandra Mukherjee, and mother, Tapati Mukherjee, groomed him to achieve success without losing his touch with the roots of the soil. Dr.Mukherjee is a scholar in Bengali literature having had his Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) and Masters (M.A.) on the subject. From his early youth, he has been an expert organizer. After finishing his Higher Secondary Education, he introduced “SAHITYA SABHA” at Labpur in the name of the great novelist Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay. In 1999, he founded Tarashankar Sob PeyechirAsor for the children of up to class X to practice cultural activities and learn the basics of a theatre. Composition, direction & playwright of drama is his favorite area of work . He appeared in the world of drama for the first time in the year 2001 as the character “Kabla” in “HALKHATA”. His splendid profile of dramatic performance was highly commended in the dramas like “ALIBABA”, “Two in
One”. “Ei Jogote Haaye”, “BogloBayen”,etc. He was awarded the Best Actor in the State Youth Festival in the same year for the Hindi Drama “Chal Akela”. But he is more into direction than acting. He received the Best Director award for the drama “Najar”, his memorable construction of both entertainment and thought-provoking drama. It was the struggle of this teenage boy in 1999 that brought the organization to the position that it is in today. At present, he is working to implement his dream of establishing “GURUKUL” a concept homely environment with open theatre
space in natural conditions . His undeterred hard work and determination got him the recognition as one of the most well renowned directors in the theatre today.
